Taeyang’s New Sculpture Is Probably Worth More Than Your House

BIGBANG’s Taeyang is reportedly the proud owner of a video installation that once broke auction record! 

The piece ,“Stag” by Paik Nam June, was sold for a record price of $590,000 USD at Seoul Auction’s 22nd Hong Kong sale back in May. 

The animal-shaped video sculpture was originally made in 1996 and features four television monitors that air videos of sexual nature. 

The purchase which broke the previous record price of the artist was revealed to have been made by Taeyang. 

This was confirmed on his personal Instagram account where he posted photos of the sculpture saying “Arrived #NamJunePaik #Stag.” 

An update from the actual auction also confirmed speculations that he was the one to have purchased such expensive piece. 

Paik Nam June is a Korean-American who has been dubbed the father of video art and although his works were underappreciated at the time, some speculate that they are now undergoing a surge in popularity.
